Short sales closings for the Reno Sparks area in August increased by 46% compared to one year ago.   The number of homes listed as short sales also increased from 264 in 2009 to 300 in 2010 (13.6%).   According to statistics available through the Northern Nevada Regional MLS there was also a significant change in the median price of the homes sold short.   The median price of short sales in 2009 was $199,500, in 2010 that number decreased to $159,500, or a 20% reduction year over year.   Compared with all sales where the median increased slightly from $179,000 in 2009 to $179,900 in 2010.   The average price of short sales in 2010 was $186,978.
